Golden Globes 2026 Recap: Nikki Glaser Roasts Hollywood & The “One Battle After Another” Sweep

The champagne has been drunk, the tears have been shed, and the PR teams are already spinning the snubs. The Golden Globe 2026 aired last night, and for the first time in years, it wasn’t a total snooze-fest.

Why? Because Nikki Glaser woke up and chose violence. Returning for her second year as host, Glaser proved why she is the only person who should ever hold a microphone in a room full of narcissists.

Here is the good, the bad, and the awkward from last night.

1. The Host: Nikki Glaser vs. The Room

Most hosts play it safe. Glaser played it like a roast battle. She opened the show by addressing the elephant in the room—the “AI Strike” that almost delayed the ceremony.

“I’m glad we settled the strike. It would have been a tragedy if ChatGPT wrote this monologue. It probably would have been nicer to you people.”

She then set her sights on the cast of The White Lotus (Season 3 set in Thailand):

“I see the White Lotus table is here. You guys look great. I’m still waiting for Mike White to cast me as the ‘Pilates instructor with a shadowy past’ in Season 4. I know you’re filming in the Alps next. I have a passport and I can do a fake accent. Call me.”

It was sharp, it was mean, and it was exactly what the show needed.

2. The Big Winner: “One Battle After Another”

The night belonged to One Battle After Another. The WWI epic (which feels like 1917 meets Saving Private Ryan on steroids) took home Best Motion Picture (Drama), Best Director, and Best Actor. It was a clean sweep. At this point, just engrave the Oscar. The moment the director walked up and said, “We didn’t make this movie to win awards, we made it to remind you why you’re free,” the entire room gave a standing ovation. A bit cheesy? Yes. Did it work? Absolutely.

3. TV Justice: “Severance” Finally Wins

After getting ignored for Season 1, Severance (Season 2) finally got its flowers. It won Best TV Drama, and Adam Scott took home Best Actor in a Drama Series. It’s about time. The show aired nearly a year ago (Jan 2025), but the voters clearly remembered how much it messed with their heads. If you haven’t watched it yet, what are you doing with your life?

4. The “Awkward” Moment

The new “Best Podcast” category debuted last night. It was… weird. Seeing podcasters in tuxedos accepting a Golden Globe felt like a glitch in the matrix. Winner: SmartLess (again). The Rant: Can we stop giving awards to celebrities just for talking into microphones? Give it to an actual narrative podcast next time.

The Verdict

The Golden Globes are usually a drunken mess, but 2026 felt surprisingly competent. Nikki Glaser saved the vibe, the right movies won, and nobody got slapped. We’ll take it.

Next Up: The Oscars. And yes, One Battle After Another is going to win there too.
